But that doesn\u2019t exactly make it an autonomous vehicle. So what\u2019s the difference?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is driver-assist?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>Driver-assist is also called Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS). It refers to and encompasses functions and technology that augment the driving experience of the driver. If a collision is imminent, the car can brake automatically. <\/span><span>&nbsp;It also helps maintain a set speed and the distance between your car and the vehicle ahead.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is an autonomous vehicle?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>An <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/the-auto-sector-thinks-teslas-full-of-shit-with-its-full-self-driving\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">autonomous vehicle<\/a> comes with technology to enable it to drive without any assistance from a human driver. It\u2019s able to make decisions of its own volition and act in real-time in response to the challenges of the road, such as oncoming traffic, turns, and traffic lights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Tesla has a subscription feature called \u201cFull Self-Driving\u201d (or FSD). Despite a name that suggests otherwise, Tesla\u2019s FSD is not self-driving but a driver-assist vehicle. (It\u2019s not publicly released yet).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>L4 autonomous driving does not require human intervention, but the driver still has the option to manually override and take over control of the car.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>By comparison, Level 5 is a car that is able to make decisions completely independently \u2013 the car is the driver.
