Let\u2019s take a look.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is bi-directional charging?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>Bi-directional charging is the ability for your car battery to receive energy from the electricity grid and be also able to share the power it generates. There are two main categories:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Vehicle-to-grid (V2G): energy is exported from the EV charger to support the electricity grid.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Vehicle-to-home or (V2H): energy is used to power a home or business.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Remind me how EV charging works?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>When you charge an EV, the alternating current (AC) it receives from the electricity grid needs to be converted into direct current (DC) to make it the correct format to power a car battery. Do we want to spread the risk to people\u2019s homes or the grid?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ok, so I have an EV and an EV charger. Can I get on board?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>There\u2019s a catch. Both your EV <\/span><i><span>and<\/span><\/i><span> your charger need bi-directional charging capabilities.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As of February 2022, the only vehicles in the wild right now with bi-directional charging capabilities are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Nissan LEAF.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Nissan e-NV200.<\/span><\/li>\n<li Air.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Ford F-120.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>The Volkswagen ID range.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Hyundai\u2019s A representative of the business told me that the company follows standards like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/standard\/69113.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span>ISO 15118<\/span><\/a><span>, which define bi-directional charging for CCS compatible vehicles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In other words, Quasar2 is designed to align with new standards and next-generation EVs, including Ford, Hyundai, and Volkswagen.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Solar power is a game-changer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>One of the most interesting trends to watch is the implementation of wall boxes which also capture photovoltaic (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/what-you-need-to-know-about-solar-powered-cars-and-electric-vehicles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>solar<\/span><\/a><span>) energy.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Earlier this month, Ford <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/media.ford.com\/content\/fordmedia\/fna\/us\/en\/news\/2022\/02\/02\/f-150-lightning-power-play.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span>unveiled<\/span><\/a><span> its partnership with solar company Sunrun.
