And when they acquire a bunch of engineers doing something amazing with trains, that\u2019s when things start to get really interesting.<\/span><\/p>\n

This week, <\/span>Fortescue Future Industries<\/span><\/a> (FFI), the green arm of Forrest\u2019s \u200b\u200bFortescue Metals Group, acquired UK company Williams Advanced Engineering (WAE).<\/span><\/p>\n

To mark the purchase, WAE and Fortescue announced the development of a world-first, zero-emission \u201cInfinity Train.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

What the heck is an Infinity Train?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It\u2019s all about battery innovation. The Infinity Train project will use gravitational energy to fully recharge its battery-electric systems without any additional charging requirements for the return trip to reload.<\/span><\/p>\n

In other words,<\/span> the train will recharge the battery using gravity while it\u2019s loaded with the extremely heavy iron ore it transports.<\/span> Then, it can return home without the need for manual recharging. <\/span><\/p>\n
