Hell, you just need to check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thenextweb\/status\/1500569964578807808?s=20&amp;t=oR32Y-BSWphrBrcbGbCC1g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Twitter account to see how much we love them<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s one place polls don\u2019t exist: WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<p>Well, this won\u2019t be for much longer. According to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/wabetainfo.com\/whatsapp-beta-for-ios-22-6-0-70-whats-new\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">WABetaInfo<\/a>, the company is working on a polls feature for groups. Who the hell needs a poll in a group chat? Just ask a damn question and let people answer normally.<\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s a huge amount of uses for the feature. Think about choosing a time to meet, suggesting pet names, or even deciding on the next movie you want to watch.<\/p>\n<p>Or, in community groups, you can easily decide meeting dates, vote on specific decisions, or any other number of organizational points.<\/p>\n<p>I am a part of a meme-sharing group, and we change our group name every 15 days. I\u2019d definitely want to use the upcoming polls feature for that.<\/p>\n<p>And while polls won\u2019t be a must-have (like linking&nbsp;<a class=\"c-link\" tabindex=\"-1\" href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/whatsapp-multi-device-ipad-confirmation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/whatsapp-multi-device-ipad-confirmation\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" data-remove-tab-index=\"true\">multiple devices to one account<\/a>), it would still make WhatsApp far more usable for swathes of people.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, it\u2019s odd we\u2019ve come this far without polls being released.<\/p>\n<p>Telegram has had the feature for years. In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/telegram.org\/blog\/polls-2-0-vmq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">it overhauled its poll system<\/a> at the start of 2020, including things like visible or anonymous votes with a single choice, multiple-choice options, and quizzes. That\u2019s a quick way to gauge disruption.<\/p>\n<p>Signal, another messaging competitor, doesn\u2019t have a polls feature yet, but you can create a makeshift solution with emoji reactions \u2014 another feature <a href=\"https:\/\/wabetainfo.com\/whatsapp-desktop-beta-2-2207-0-whats-new\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">WhatsApp is working on<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Given the Meta-owned company has more than two billion users it\u2019s a surprise it hasn\u2019t introduced more messaging features. Still, while polls might sound old hat, they\u2019re likely to be a big hit when they\u2019re finally rolled out.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll keep an eye on the feature\u2019s release and write about how to use it in our Basics section.
