href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/580578711\/SpaceXin-motion-decision-fcc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span>granting the company authorization<\/span><\/a><span> to use its <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.starlink.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span>Starlink<\/span><\/a><span> satellite internet system on vehicles in motion \u2014 including cars, trucks, boats, and aircraft.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Starlink is SpaceX\u2019s network of <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/problems-with-elon-musk-starlink-satellites\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Earth-orbiting satellites,<\/a> providing high-speed internet to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/05\/25\/spacexs-starlink-surpasses-400000-subscribers-globally.html?&amp;doc=107083391\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span>36 Chief Thomas Sullivan:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p><span>Authorizing a new class of terminals for SpaceX\u2019s satellite system will expand the range of broadband capabilities to meet the growing user demands that now require connectivity while on the move, whether driving an RV across the country, moving a freighter from Europe to a US port, or while on a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/elon-musk-spacex-killing-birds-boca-chica-texas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SpaceX\u2019s<\/a> Starlink system, but will make it a hell of a lot harder to blame poor internet connectivity for not replying to emails or missing deadlines. Damn.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>A huge win for <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/topic\/spacex\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SpaceX<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>Starlink enables video calls, online gaming, streaming, and other high data rate activities with faster connectivity than traditional broadband satellites.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Up until now, Starlink access was limited to those with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.starlink.com\/kit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span>fixed locations hardware<\/span><\/a><span>. But now, it is accessible on the move. This offers huge commercial opportunities for expansion into mobility markets like cars, trucks, and boats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The company recently rolled out RV access for campers on the move. RV users can subscribe to Starlink to gain high-speed, low-latency internet at places with active coverage. It costs $129 a month with an initial outlay for the hardware of $657.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>They also have signed deals with airlines <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/04\/21\/spacex-first-starlink-inflight-wi-fi-deal-with-charter-airline-jsx.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span>JSX<\/span><\/a><span> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/aerospace-defense\/hawaiian-airlines-signs-deal-with-musks-starlink-on-flight-internet-2022-04-25\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span>Hawaiian Airlines<\/span><\/a><span> offering in-flight internet access. This means you can tweet about bad airline service from the comfort of the plane, in real-time.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Starlink greatly helped Ukraine in recent times. Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/menafn.com\/1104460505\/Ukrainian-Railway-Operator-Says-Starlink-Internet-To-Be-Available-On-All-Trains-By-Year-End\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span>plans to offer Starlink<\/span><\/a><span> on all of its trains by the end of 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>However, for those worried about a Musk world monopoly, this could also be <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/musk-bezos-space-feud-fake-syndication\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a reckoning for competitors<\/a> in satellite broadband. They include Canada\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.telesat.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span>Telestat<\/span><\/a><span>, and Amazon\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aboutamazon.com\/news\/innovation-at-amazon\/project-kuiper-announces-plans-and-launch-provider-for-prototype-satellites\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span>Project Kuiper<\/span><\/a><span>. However, both are far more nascent in product development.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>But it\u2019s a win for fast, reliable internet.
