{"id":1265,"date":"2020-11-19T16:21:25","date_gmt":"2020-11-19T16:21:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/?p=1328810"},"modified":"2020-11-19T16:21:25","modified_gmt":"2020-11-19T16:21:25","slug":"mit-study-the-us-increasingly-has-immigrants-to-thank-for-its-algorithmic-dominance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.londonchiropracter.com\/?p=1265","title":{"rendered":"MIT study: The US increasingly has immigrants to thank for its algorithmic dominance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A new <a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/epdf\/10.1002\/gsj.1393\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">MIT CSAIL study<\/a> has revealed&nbsp;that while the&nbsp;US still leads the world in the development of&nbsp;algorithms,&nbsp;<span>immigrants working at the country\u2019s institutions&nbsp;<\/span>are increasingly responsible for the innovations.AI<\/p>\n<p>The research team reported the findings after combing through 57 textbooks and more than 1,000 research papers to create a list of 180 algorithms that were either the first to solve particular problems or had improved existing fundamental methods. They call their collection the \u201cAlgorithmic Commons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The team then extracted information&nbsp;about the institutions and birth countries of the authors of the papers.
