{"id":131,"date":"2020-10-06T14:17:12","date_gmt":"2020-10-06T14:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/?p=1321813"},"modified":"2020-10-06T14:17:12","modified_gmt":"2020-10-06T14:17:12","slug":"playstation-5-is-winning-the-console-wars-against-xbox-series-data-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.londonchiropracter.com\/?p=131","title":{"rendered":"PlayStation 5 is winning the console wars against Xbox Series, data shows"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div readability=\"104.16556291391\">\n<p>Microsoft and Sony have been involved in a heated race \u2014 more commonly known as <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/growth-quarters\/2020\/07\/20\/3-biggest-brand-lessons-from-the-playstation-vs-xbox-console-wars\/\">the console wars<\/a> \u2014 since 2001, when the first-gen Xbox squared off against the PlayStation 2.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for Microsoft, though, it hasn\u2019t been much of a contest (save for perhaps <a href=\"https:\/\/gadgets.ndtv.com\/games\/news\/playstation-3-outsells-xbox-360-in-the-us-for-first-time-in-32-months-433889\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">the clash<\/a> between Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) and it seems the latest head-to-head isn\u2019t much different \u2014 or so suggests data SimilarWeb shared with TNW.<\/p>\n<p>While visits to playstation.com and xbox.com were relatively neck and neck in the lead-up to each brand\u2019s pre-order launch dates, traffic to PlayStation\u2018s site peaked at a little over 892,000 on September 16 when Sony <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/gaming\/2020\/09\/16\/playstation-5-launches-november-12-for-499\/\">kicked off<\/a> pre-orders for its next-gen console. It was also 279.4% higher than traffic to xbox.com on that day.<\/p>\n<p>Xbox\u2018s pre-order peak, on the other hand, saw a traffic bump of 263.6% compared to the days prior in the month, and 211.4% more visits than playstation.com received on that day.<\/p>\n<p>The bottomline? PlayStation\u2018s pre-order launch attracted about 116,000 eyeballs (or 232,000 if you wanna be pedantic) more than Xbox\u2018s, according to SimilarWeb\u2019s data. That said, these numbers don\u2019t tell us much about how that translates to actual sales, so take it with a grain of salt.&nbsp;It\u2019s also worth noting all data refers to desktop visits, and doesn\u2019t include mobile traffic.<\/p>\n<p>SimilarWeb notes both brands relied mostly on organic search for the majority of their traffic, with PlayStation scoring a slightly higher chunk of organic traffic than Xbox.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"post-image post-mediaBleed alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1321870 lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-06-at-15.03.19.png\" alt width=\"2258\" height=\"960\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2258px) 100vw, 2258px\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-06-at-15.03.19.png 2258w, https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-06-at-15.03.19-280x119.png 280w, https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-06-at-15.03.19-540x230.png 540w, https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-06-at-15.03.19-270x115.png 270w, https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-06-at-15.03.19-796x338.png 796w, https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-06-at-15.03.19-1592x677.png 1592w\"><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother strategy xbox.com employs is outwardly redirecting traffic from its site to external retailers selling its product,\u201d SimilarWeb highlights in its report.<\/p>\n<p>In case you wondered, here are the biggest benefactors of this approach:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>microsoft.com at 26.7%<\/li>\n<li>bestbuy.com at 6.6%<\/li>\n<li>walmart.com at 1.8%<\/li>\n<li>target.com at 1%<\/li>\n<li>gamestop.com at 0.4%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s worth noting that with the exception of Microsoft, all other retailers offer both brands.
