No, that\u2019s not a \u2018drive\u2019 in the sense of yet another cloud storage service, but instead in the sense of \u201cclothing drive\u201d or \u201cfood drive.\u201d It builds on the social network\u2019s fundraising tools for emergencies and community causes, except this time it\u2019s not so much about raising money as it is about donations of actual goods.<\/p>\n<p>The feature, which is launching in the US to start, will be available in the Community Help hub on the Facebook app. It can be accessed by typing \u2018Community Help\u2019 into Facebook\u2018s search bar, then clicking on \u2018Request or Offer Help\u2019 and \u2018Create Drive.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll then be able to fill out a form with information such as the type and number of items you want to collect. Once created, you and others can see a tracker with how many items are left to collect.<\/p>\n<p>The feature builds on the fundraising tools Facebook has released over the years, including for <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/facebook\/2017\/09\/14\/facebook-launches-crisis-response-combine-safety-check-fundraising\/\">emergency relief<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/facebook\/2016\/07\/01\/facebook-now-lets-raise-funds-favorite-charities\/feed\/\">charities<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/facebook\/2017\/08\/16\/facebook-launches-birthday-fundraisers-feature-kind-genius\/\">non-profits<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/facebook\/2017\/05\/24\/facebook-expands-gofundme-like-fundraiser-service-everyone-us\/\">more personal causes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Drives are rolling out starting today and should be available to everyone \u201cin the coming days\u201d \u2014 hopefully in time for the holidays, while people are feeling a little more helpful.<\/p>\n<p><em>Via <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2020\/11\/23\/facebook-launches-drives-a-u-s-only-feature-for-collecting-food-clothing-and-other-necessities-for-people-in-need\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">TechCrunch<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/insider\/2020\/11\/24\/facebooks-new-drives-help-collect-food-and-clothing-for-people-in-need\/\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Facebook today announced a new feature called Drives.
