{"id":13446,"date":"2023-08-10T09:13:59","date_gmt":"2023-08-10T09:13:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/TheNextWeb=1398938"},"modified":"2023-08-10T09:13:59","modified_gmt":"2023-08-10T09:13:59","slug":"europes-spacex-competitor-pushes-rocket-launch-back-to-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.londonchiropracter.com\/?p=13446","title":{"rendered":"Europe\u2019s SpaceX competitor pushes rocket launch back to 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img-cdn.tnwcdn.com\/image\/tnw-blurple?filter_last=1&amp;fit=1280%2C640&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn0.tnwcdn.com%2Fwp-content%2Fblogs.dir%2F1%2Ffiles%2F2023%2F08%2Fariane-6-testing-french-guiana.jpg&amp;signature=9fc01c7f649f6b4fe9d062becee85dc4\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><span>The European Space Agency\u2019s next-generation heavy-lift rocket, Ariane 6, definitely won\u2019t launch until at least 2024, the agency\u2019s director general <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AschbacherJosef\/status\/1688822460307623936?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span>confirmed<\/span><\/a><span> this week.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Ariane 6 was first scheduled to launch four years ago. <\/span><span>However, the rocket has suffered a series of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/lifestyle\/science\/arianespace-ramp-up-full-ariane-6-rocket-launch-rate-2026-ceo-2022-11-16\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span>delays<\/span><\/a><span>, attributed to technical issues, COVID-19, and design changes.<\/span><span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The ESA said the most recent setback was because it failed to complete a short hot firing test,, mimicking the environment in space to provide data to operators,of Ariane\u2019s engine system in a July attempt. The ESA wants to reattempt the test on August 29, with tentative plans for a long hot fire test on September 26, at the agency\u2019s spaceport in <\/span><span>French Guiana<\/span><span>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>With Ariane 5 officially <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/final-mission-photos-esas-ariane-5-rocket-lifts-off-last-time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>decommissioned<\/span><\/a><span> and Italy\u2019s Vega C rocket grounded following launch <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/arianespace-vega-c-launch-failure-december-2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span>failure<\/span><\/a><span> in December, Europe is now without independent access to space satellites. Until Ariane 6 gets up and running, the EU will be forced to contract the work to Elon Musk\u2019s SpaceX \u2014 the company\u2019s Falcon rocket is the only viable alternative for hauling large satellites into orbit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Exactly when Ariane 6 will embark on its maiden voyage is uncertain.
