These viral stories \u2014 I\u2019ll admit, I did click, and I <\/span>did<\/span> giggle \u2014 are enough to give anyone more than a little stage fright when it comes to making video calls. <\/span><\/p>\n

There was once a time I\u2019d glance in the mirror before every meeting, searching for stray boogers or missing teeth. I\u2019d click \u201cjoin meeting\u201d in fear that the blood stains on my walls would be in frame. But my fears are now long gone \u2014 thanks to <\/span>technology<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Hand Mirror app<\/span><\/a> sits at the top menu bar of your Mac, and with one click shows you a livestream from your camera. Click it again, and it turns off.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are also a few simple customizations you can change in Preferences, including the Menu bar icon, the pop up size, and how to close the app. You can also give it a try before you download <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Is it kinda the same as using Photo Booth? Sure. It\u2019s not wildly sophisticated or cutting edge, and it\u2019s not even that new \u2014 but it\u2019s free, simple, useful, and ensures you don\u2019t get caught with egg on your face.<\/span><\/p>\n
