{"id":14305,"date":"2024-01-25T08:00:46","date_gmt":"2024-01-25T08:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/TheNextWeb=1403291"},"modified":"2024-01-25T08:00:46","modified_gmt":"2024-01-25T08:00:46","slug":"a-glimpse-into-the-future-of-tech-from-the-winners-of-the-amsterdam-science-innovation-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.londonchiropracter.com\/?p=14305","title":{"rendered":"A glimpse into the future of tech from the winners of the Amsterdam Science &amp; Innovation Award"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span>Towards the end of last year, the winners of the 16th edition of the Amsterdam Science &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/topic\/innovation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Innovation<\/a> Awards (AmSIA) were announced at the NEMO Science Museum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This competition \u2014 hosted by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ixa.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span>Innovation Exchange Amsterdam (IXA)<\/span><\/a><span> \u2014 highlights three innovative ideas from the Netherlands each year. These are split into three categories: health, society, and environment &amp; climate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Beyond simply spotlighting the fascinating minds behind these inventions, the event also helps make them a reality. Unfortunately, 25% of women need another operation because the wounds don\u2019t heal correctly, as that tissue quality is compromised. In case of recurrence, permanent implants are used to treat POP, but they can cause clinical complications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Guler\u2019s team believed this could be solved with dissolvable implants \u2014 but that wasn\u2019t enough in itself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She tells me her and the team have been \u201cworking with degradable knitted implants to eliminate or minimise clinical complication\u201d for some time.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>While they found these offered great mechanical support, they differed too much from natural tissues. That\u2019s growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She tells me she\u2019s \u201cseeking the attention and collaboration of medical device companies to support a comprehensive, long-term follow-up study for [their] electrospun (ES) scaffold.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Beyond this, Guler wants to explore the commercialisation and widespread distribution of the technology.
