It became particularly popular in Italy, which prompted scrutiny from the country\u2019s competition regulator.<\/p>\n<p>Following a probe, investigators concluded that <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/topic\/tiktok\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TikTok<\/a> had failed to protect users from \u201cthe potentially dangerous\u201d content. The company said it restricted the French scar was restricted \u201clong ago\u201d and only attracted 100 daily searches in Italy when the probe began last year. TikTok&nbsp;has repeatedly denied such claims.<\/p>\n<p>The company is expected to challenge the ruling, which civil liberties groups <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/press-releases\/aclu-slams-house-for-latest-plan-to-ban-tiktok-and-stifle-free-speech\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">have slammed<\/a> for stifling free speech and entrenching big tech\u2019s dominance of social media.<\/p>\n<p>A ban would also anger numerous American citizens. Millions of them now face losing access to TikTok.
