A barge on the River Seine will provide a tiny airport for the vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The French government confirmed the plans on Tuesday. In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legifrance.gouv.fr\/jorf\/id\/JORFTEXT000049909600\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">official degree<\/a>, public officials named the terminal the \u201cVertiport de Paris-Austerlitz.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The airport will accommodate vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) vehicles. Volocopter\u2019s all-electric <a href=\"https:\/\/www.volocopter.com\/en\/solutions\/volocity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Volocity<\/a> is the only air taxi authorised to use the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>The two-seater, 18-rotor craft earned the rubber stamp after over a year of testing. Sign up now!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/watch-volocopter-volocity-air-taxi-take-first-flight\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Volocopter<\/a> will, however, have to abide by strict guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>The vertiport can only operate two <span>flights<\/span>&nbsp;per hour and 900 across the entire \u201cexperiment,\u201d which must end by December 31. It can also only remain open between 08:00 and 17:00.<\/p>\n<p>Air taxi firms hope that <span>the trial<\/span>&nbsp;provides a springboard for the industry.<span> Macron has also offered strong support for their objectives. Critics claim that air taxis are <span>impractical and poor value for money. They argue that the flights are solely for the ultra-wealthy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Paris City Hall has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.connexionfrance.com\/news\/flying-taxis-for-paris-2024-olympics-meet-council-opposition\/141843\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">described the project<\/a> as \u201cabsurd\u201d and an \u201cecological mistake.\u201d <\/span><span>The council plans to challenge the permit for the project. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>But for now, Macron can book a ticket and look forward to the Paris views.<\/span><\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/air-taxis-approved-paris-olympics-macron-invited\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Air taxis have been cleared for takeoff during the Paris Olympics \u2014 and President Macron has been offered a seat on the first flight.
