By fusing all this data, devices can become \u201cincreasingly familiar with users\u2019 preferences and usage,\u201d Samsung said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The conglomerate plans to integrate the software \u201cacross all of Samsung\u2019s products,\u201d from phones to TV and home appliances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs global consumers realise their growing need for more personalised AI experiences, the acquisition of Oxford Semantic Technologies will further boost Samsung\u2019s strong capabilities in knowledge engineering,\u201d said Paul Kyungwhoon Cheun, CTO of Samsung Electronics.<\/p>\n<h2>A European AI shopping spree<\/h2>\n<p><span>The takeover culminates <\/span> a long relationship between the two companies, which first collaborated back in 2018. A year later, Samsung led <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxfordsemantic.tech\/blog\/samsung-ventures-invests-in-oxford-semantic-technologies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">a \u00a33mn investment round<\/a> in the University of Oxford spinout.<\/p>\n<p><span>Samsung didn\u2019t disclose the price of the full acquisition, which extends a recent spree of European startup sales. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Just last week,<\/span><span> US chip giant AMD <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/us-chipmaker-amd-buys-silo-ai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bought Finnish company Silo AI<\/a>, while Japanese tech group SoftBank bought British <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/softbank-troubled-british-chipamker-graphcore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">semiconductor firm Graphcore<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>For Europe, the takeovers show the struggles to keep tech leaders in the continent.
