{"id":15517,"date":"2024-08-21T08:02:39","date_gmt":"2024-08-21T08:02:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/TheNextWeb=1409480"},"modified":"2024-08-21T08:02:39","modified_gmt":"2024-08-21T08:02:39","slug":"esas-juice-spacecraft-completes-worlds-first-lunar-earth-flyby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.londonchiropracter.com\/?p=15517","title":{"rendered":"ESA\u2019s Juice spacecraft completes world\u2019s first lunar-Earth flyby"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Europe\u2019s Juice spacecraft has completed the world\u2019s first lunar-Earth flyby.<\/p>\n<p>The Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer \u2014 aka Juice \u2014&nbsp;harnessed the gravity of Earth to sling itself in the direction of Venus.<\/p>\n<p>The route will provide a shortcut to Jupiter through the inner Solar System.<\/p>\n<p>Juice made it closet approach to the Moon at 23:15 CEST on August 19. The Earth flyby then reduced that speed by 4.8 km\/s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Over the entire flyby, Juice was deflected by an angle of 100\u00b0 compared to its prior trajectory<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe gravity assist flyby was flawless, everything went without a hitch, and we were thrilled to see Juice coming back so close to Earth,\u201d says Ignacio Tanco, Spacecraft Operations Manager for the mission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Juice is now on course to meet Venus in August 2025. A Venus flyby will then boost the spacecraft past and Earth, before two further boosts send it to Jupiter.
