{"id":15628,"date":"2024-09-09T12:27:59","date_gmt":"2024-09-09T12:27:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/TheNextWeb=1410066"},"modified":"2024-09-09T12:27:59","modified_gmt":"2024-09-09T12:27:59","slug":"atomico-raises-1-24b-fund-for-european-startups-from-seed-to-pre-ipo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.londonchiropracter.com\/?p=15628","title":{"rendered":"Atomico raises $1.24B fund for European startups from seed to pre-IPO"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img-cdn.tnwcdn.com\/image\/tnw-blurple?filter_last=1&amp;fit=1280%2C640&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn0.tnwcdn.com%2Fwp-content%2Fblogs.dir%2F1%2Ffiles%2F2024%2F09%2FUntitled-design-31.jpg&amp;signature=c47c9272d10867a76136c4d964e0fe04\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Atomico, one of the largest venture capital firms in Europe, has raised $1.24bn to support <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/topic\/strartups\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">startups<\/a> in the region.<\/p>\n<p>This is its largest fundraise to date, Atomico says, although falling slightly short of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1918372\/000191838323000001\/xslFormDX01\/primary_doc.xml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">initial<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1918383\/000191838323000002\/xslFormDX01\/primary_doc.xml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">target<\/a> of $1.35bn.<\/p>\n<p>The total amount is a combination of two different funds. It counts over 155 investments across 15 European companies.<\/p>\n<p>The VC firm says that one in six of its portfolio startups is currently valued above $1bn. This includes machine translation company <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/ai-translation-deepl-reaches-2b-valuation-new-300m-investment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DeepL<\/a> and buy-now-pay-later unicorn <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/opinion-ai-ability-replace-jobs-shouldnt-be-flaunted\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Klarna<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The two new funds aim to further support Europe\u2019s growth, as Atomico believes the region is currently emerging as a strong competitor in the global tech landscape.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEuropean technology is coming of age,\u201d said Zennstr\u00f6m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cData shows Europe is leading the world at the early stage with a wealth of new startups.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The region is <a href=\"https:\/\/stateofeuropeantech.com\/executive-summary#C1-0-new-startup-formation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">outpacing the US<\/a> in the creation of new companies&nbsp;and now accounts for approximately 30% of global early-stage <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/topic\/funding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funding<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, the picture is different for late-stage funding, which <a href=\"https:\/\/news.crunchbase.com\/venture\/european-funding-share-eoy-2023\/#:~:text=Based%20on%20an%20analysis%20of,at%20its%20lowest%20since%202021.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">almost halved<\/a> in 2023 compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>The overall fundraising environment for startups remains tough and the number of active investors in Europe\u2019s VC ecosystem fell <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchbook.com\/news\/articles\/european-vc-active-investors-decrease\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">more than 50%<\/a> in June.<\/p>\n<p>But there are signs of recovery.
