The second-hand marketplace can now generate an entire listing from a single photo.<\/p>\n<p>Launched today, the feature is designed to accelerate sales. All users need to do is upload their image and hit \u201cGenerate Description.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Image recognition and GenAI will then create the listing description. The system will also add various item attributes, from category to colour and brand. The British government has provided funding for the project.<\/p>\n<p>Depop has also integrated language and vision models in the platform\u2019s listings, search, and recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe Colburn, the company\u2019s chief technology and product officer, told TNW that Depop now uses <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/topic\/artificial-intelligence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/topic\/machine-learning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">machine learning<\/a> \u201cacross our marketplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cResale inventory is typically made up of unstructured, user-generated content,\u201d he said. \u201cAI enables us to address that and close the gap with retail, by providing us ways to understand and present products that were once only available to traditional retailers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Colburn hopes the tech can also drive a shift in consumer behaviour: choosing resale over retail.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/depop-ai-generates-listings-from-one-photo\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fashion app Depop has unveiled new AI gear from the firm\u2019s tech wardrobe.
