It also has low noise emissions, and is built using far fewer rare earth materials.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>DeepDrive says its technology can make electric cars 20% more energy efficient, enabling automakers to build EVs with greater range at a lower cost.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>DeepDrive is currently co-developing its electric motors with <\/span><span>eight&nbsp; of the world\u2019s 10 largest automakers. The company has raised just shy of \u20ac50mn to date. DeepDrive will use the new cash to build in-house production lines, as it eyes series production of its ultra-efficient electric motors in 2028.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe believe in a collaborative approach, working hand-in-hand with established players to get our motors on the streets,\u201d said Felix Poernbacher, co-founder and co-CEO of DeepDrive.<\/span> <span>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>EVs need a boost<\/h2>\n<p><span>In Europe, battery-electric cars (BEV) made up 14.3% of all <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acea.auto\/pc-registrations\/new-car-registrations-4-3-in-june-2024-battery-electric-14-4-market-share\/#:~:text=In%20June%2C%20battery%2Delectric%20cars,%25%2C%20down%20from%2049.6%25.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span>new vehicle sales<\/span><\/a><span> in 2023, up from just 4% in 2020. <\/span><span>Yet, growth has been <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportenvironment.org\/articles\/europes-bev-market-defies-odds-but-more-affordable-models-needed#:~:text=EU%20BEV%20sales%20are%20now,standards%20in%202020%20and%202021.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span>slower<\/span><\/a><span> than anticipated. Last year, the share of BEV sales for some carmakers stagnated or even decreased.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>EVs are still costly to produce, and the limited range of many models remains a stumbling block for manufacturers.
