The company\u2019s sports smartwatch is built to be repaired. The startup raised over \u00a3200,000 in just 48 hours after its launch on the crowdfunding platform. The first deliveries are due to begin in August 2025 to customers in the EU, UK,<span> Canada, and the US. <\/span><span>Early backers can secure one of the watches for <span>\u00a3210<\/span> ($275) \u2014 \u00a360 ($75) off the retail price of <span>\u00a3270 (<\/span>$350).&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"421\" data-end=\"547\"><strong>High-tech, open-source&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"421\" data-end=\"547\">While sustainability is at its core, Una\u2019s watch doesn\u2019t compromise on high-tech features. The smartwatch uses dual-frequency GPS, improving the accuracy, reliability, and robustness of location data.<\/p>\n<p class data-start=\"1559\" data-end=\"1807\"><span>The device also packs a bunch of sensors<span>. <\/span><\/span><span>T<\/span>hese include a barometric altimeter for elevation changes, an accelerometer to track movement, and a magnetometer for orientation. It also measures heart rate and blood oxygen levels.<\/p>\n<p class data-start=\"1809\" data-end=\"1946\">Powered by an ultra-efficient Cortex-M33 chip, the smartwatch offers up to 10 days of battery life. The company also offers add-on hardware and software \u201ckits\u201d that allow users to build custom apps, create new hardware modules, and even write their own firmware.<\/p>\n<p class data-start=\"2188\" data-end=\"2348\">Una departs from proprietary, closed-source devices like the Apple Watch and Garmin, which dominate the global smartwatch market, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortunebusinessinsights.com\/smartwatch-market-106625\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">worth<\/a> $33bn last year.<\/p>\n<p class data-start=\"2350\" data-end=\"2663\">The Edinburgh-based startup is one of a growing number of tech companies developing products that customers can fix and upgrade themselves. Other examples include Fairphone, which <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/fairphone-5-smartphone-launch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">makes smartphones<\/a> that can be repaired at home using just a screwdriver and a video manual, and Framework, which builds modular laptops.<\/p>\n<p class data-start=\"2665\" data-end=\"2829\">Una\u2019s Kickstarter success follows a \u00a3300,000 investment from SFC Capital in March.
