During the entire trial period, the weapon was used to \u201ctrack, engage and defeat\u201d more than 100 drones.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>RapidDestroyer could be deployed in war zones across the world, including Ukraine, where drones have become ubiquitous on the battlefield. The British Army has also carried out several tests of DragonFire, a machine that fires <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/declassified-footage-uk-dragonfire-laser-weapon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>high-powered laser beams<\/span><\/a><span>&nbsp;at aerial targets.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>These developments come amid a Europe-wide push in defence tech spending, as the continent looks to better arm itself amid tensions with the US.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In March 2025, EU leaders<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/mar\/06\/watershed-moment-eu-leaders-close-to-agreeing-800bn-defence-plan-ukraine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span>endorsed<\/span><\/a> <span>the \u201cReArm Europe\u201d plan, aiming to mobilise up to \u00a3683bn (\u20ac800bn) over the next four years to enhance military capabilities.
