Sign up now!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>The report was produced by the Deep Tech Nation Switzerland Foundation, a non-profit backed by telecom firm Swisscom and banking giant UBS to boost Swiss innovation.&nbsp; It was published in collaboration with startup data platforms Dealroom.co and Startupticker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>After analysing over 1,500 startups, the report found that <\/span><span>deep tech companies have already created more than $100bn in combined enterprise value.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>It ranked ETH Zurich and EPFL among Europe\u2019s top four universities for producing deep tech spinouts \u2014 behind only Oxford and Cambridge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cSwitzerland has long excelled in fundamental research, but we believe the next decade belongs to the scientists and engineers who turn that research into global companies,\u201d said Alex St\u00f6ckl, founding partner at VC firm Founderful, which also contributed to the report.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>AI and machine learning startups are increasingly taking the lion\u2019s share of deep tech investment in the Alpine nation.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In 2024, almost one-third of all Swiss deep-tech funding went to AI-first startups \u2014 triple the share recorded in 2020. The funding went into everything from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/swiss-startup-collaborative-robots-genai-humanoid-hand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>software for humanoids<\/span><\/a><span> to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/swiss-ai-startup-saving-swiss-chocolate-secures-16m\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>chocolate-sorting algorithms<\/span><\/a><span>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Meanwhile, fields like robotics, climate tech, and biotech \u2014 a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/why-you-need-to-pay-attention-to-switzerland-as-a-startup-nation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Swiss staple<\/span><\/a><span> \u2014 continue to grow, thanks to large rounds from the likes of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/neustark-funding-69m-carbon-capture-credits-concrete\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Neustark<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/neo-medical.com\/2024\/09\/17\/neo-medical-secures-landmark-equity-investment-of-68-million-to-accelerate-global-growth-in-surgery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span>Neo Medical<\/span><\/a><span>, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/swiss-startup-nuclear-energy-thorium\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Transmutex<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"post-image post-mediaBleed alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1414232 js-lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2025\/06\/dt-vertical-split-swiss-deep-tech-report-2025.png\" alt width=\"960\" height=\"540\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1414232\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2025\/06\/dt-vertical-split-swiss-deep-tech-report-2025.png\" alt width=\"960\" height=\"540\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>Yet the report also highlights a gap: nearly 96% of late-stage investment comes from global, not local, funds, indicating an opportunity for domestic capital to catch up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>St\u00f6ckl has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/founderful-140m-fund-switzerland-tech-europe-startups\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>previously called<\/span><\/a><span> the Swiss tech ecosystem a \u201cpowerhouse\u201d that\u2019s only just starting to claim its place on the global stage. Data suggests its foundations are strong.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In addition to its backing for deep tech, the country has the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1096928\/number-of-global-unicorns-by-country\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span>highest number of unicorn companies<\/span><\/a> <span>per capita in Europe and has topped <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/gii-ranking\/es\/switzerland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span>the Global Innovation Index<\/span><\/a><span> for 13 years in a row.<\/span><\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/switzerland-leads-the-world-in-deep-tech-investment-report-finds\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Switzerland pours more of its venture capital into deep tech than any other country, according to new data.
