{"id":2173,"date":"2021-01-08T17:17:58","date_gmt":"2021-01-08T17:17:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/?p=1333520"},"modified":"2021-01-08T17:17:58","modified_gmt":"2021-01-08T17:17:58","slug":"sonys-new-ai-powered-tvs-mimic-the-human-brain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.londonchiropracter.com\/?p=2173","title":{"rendered":"Sony\u2019s new AI-powered TVs \u2018mimic the human brain\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img-cdn.tnwcdn.com\/image\/neural?filter_last=1&amp;fit=1280%2C640&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn0.tnwcdn.com%2Fwp-content%2Fblogs.dir%2F1%2Ffiles%2F2021%2F01%2FUntitled-design-2021-01-08T163006.133.png&amp;signature=3f246f39561e839de42ded2a3f999c5a\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Sony has unveiled a new lineup of Bravia TVs that \u201cmimic the human brain\u201d to replicate how we see and hear.<\/p>\n<p><span>The devices use a new processing method that Sony calls \u201ccognitive intelligence.\u201d The company&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/presscentre.sony.eu\/pressreleases\/sony-europe-announces-new-bravia-xr-8k-led-4k-oled-and-4k-led-models-with-new-cognitive-processor-xr-3062880\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">says<\/a>&nbsp;it goes beyond standard AI to create an immersive visual and sound experience:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"15\">\n<p>While conventional AI can only detect and analyze picture elements like color, contrast, and detail individually, the new Cognitive Processor XR can cross-analyze an array of elements at once, just as our brains do.&nbsp;By doing so, each element is adjusted to its best final outcome, in conjunction with each other, so everything is synchronized and lifelike \u2014 something that conventional AI cannot achieve.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The processor divides the screen into zones and detects the focal point in the picture. It also analyzes sound positions in the signal to match the audio to the images on the screen.<\/p>\n<p><em>[Read:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/dutch-disruptors\/2020\/12\/15\/meet-the-4-scale-ups-using-data-to-save-the-planet\/\">Meet the 4 scale-ups using data to save the planet<\/a>]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=he5YwEHwNCo&amp;feature=emb_logo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">a video demo<\/a>, Sony said the expanding size of TVs has made viewers focus on parts of the screens rather than the entire image \u2014 like we do when viewing the real world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe human eye uses different resolutions when we are looking at the whole picture and when we are focusing on something specific,\u201d said Yasuo Inoue, a&nbsp;Sony signal processing expert.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe XR Processor analyzes the focal point and refers to that point as it processes the entire image to generate an image close to what a human sees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s impossible to tell how well the AI works without seeing the TVs in person.
