{"id":2433,"date":"2021-01-20T19:32:26","date_gmt":"2021-01-20T19:32:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/?p=1334862"},"modified":"2021-01-20T19:32:26","modified_gmt":"2021-01-20T19:32:26","slug":"after-years-of-testing-netflix-confirms-its-launching-a-shuffle-play-feature-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.londonchiropracter.com\/?p=2433","title":{"rendered":"After years of testing, Netflix confirms it\u2019s launching a shuffle play feature this year"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img-cdn.tnwcdn.com\/image\/neural?filter_last=1&amp;fit=1280%2C640&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn0.tnwcdn.com%2Fwp-content%2Fblogs.dir%2F1%2Ffiles%2F2021%2F01%2FUntitled-design-2021-01-20T180037.911.png&amp;signature=7d2f8cb63b64ec746c11f97c832bcbb2\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>If you\u2019re struggling to find something worth watching from Netflix\u2019s vast catalog and you don\u2019t trust the recommendations of your friends, the streaming service has some good news for you.<\/p>\n<p>The company is finally launching a \u201cshuffle&nbsp;play\u201d feature for users who would rather let an algorithm pick their next series to binge on.<\/p>\n<p>The streaming service confirmed it will roll out the feature globally during a&nbsp;<span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NeuSus2p_M4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Q4 investor interview<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur members can basically indicate to us that they just want to skip browsing entirely, click one button, and we\u2019ll pick a title for them just to instantly play,\u201d said&nbsp;<span>COO and chief product officer Greg Peters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Peters didn\u2019t specify a launch date for the feature, but <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2021\/digital\/news\/netflix-shuffle-play-feature-official-launch-1234888490\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Variety reports<\/a> that it will arrive in the first half of this year.<\/p>\n<p><em>[Read:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/distract\/2020\/12\/21\/how-netflix-shapes-mainstream-culture-explained-by-data\/\">How Netflix shapes mainstream culture, explained by data<\/a>]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Netflix has been testing the function&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/apps\/2020\/08\/19\/netflix-is-testing-a-shuffle-button-so-you-dont-have-to-choose-what-to-watch-next\/\">since at least April 2019,<\/a>&nbsp;when viewers started spotting a \u201cRandom Episode\u201d label in their playback controls.<\/p>\n<p>Further rounds of testing followed last year. In August, a number of users noticed a Shuffle Play button pop up on Netflix\u2019s TV app, promising to \u201cfind things for you to watch based on your tastes.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"5.045045045045\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Shuffle play on Netflix.
