With this in mind, may I introduce you to <a href=\"https:\/\/birdfolder.app\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Bird Folder<\/a>, a delightful macOS extension that names new folders after birds.<\/p>\n<p>And, by god, I\u2019m in love.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve got it installed (more on that in a bit), using Bird Folder is a breeze. Some examples? I now have folders called \u201cRed-billed malkoha,\u201d \u201cZambezi indigobird,\u201d and \u201cSlender-billed greenbul.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><i><span>[Read:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/shift\/2021\/02\/08\/polestar-batteries-blockchain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How Polestar is using blockchain to increase transparency<\/a><\/span><\/i><i><span>]<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>The names of the specific birds are pulled from Wikipedia, and there are almost 10,000 possible outputs. Basically, you\u2019re not going to be running out of names any time soon.<\/p>\n<p>The Bird Folder macOS extension was <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hootalex\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">created by Alex Tomlinson<\/a>, who was inspired by a Tweet thread about the new folder naming habits of historic Korean computers:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"15.278873239437\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BACK IN THE DAY, if you made a New Folder on a Korean computer, the folder was automatically named after a bird (\u201cnew\u201d in Korean is homonymous w\/ \u201cbird\u201d). If you made hundreds, the folders would start \u201cbegging\u201d through their names, like \u201cI\u2019ve run out of bird names,\u201d \u201cPlease stop\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Emily Jungmin Yoon (@EmilyYoon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EmilyYoon\/status\/1357202460415201282?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">February 4, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The only way I can describe that is as truly delightful.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, because we\u2019re here, I may as well give you a quick guide on getting the macOS Finder extension up and running. First,&nbsp;head over to <a href=\"https:\/\/birdfolder.app\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">the Bird Folder website<\/a>, download the extension and copy it into applications.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve done this, open Finder and right click (or control click, depending on how you like to refer to that action) on the toolbar. Then, select customize toolbar. And that\u2019s it!<\/p>\n<p>All you need to do is press the button and a new folder named after a bird will appear on your Apple machine. What more do you want? Really, stop.
