It\u2019s whipping up such a storm that Facebook has decided to make its own version.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/02\/10\/technology\/facebook-building-product-clubhouse.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a>, the social network is experimenting with building an audio product that\u2019s akin to Clubhouse. This development comes days after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/facebook-ceo-mark-zuckerberg-on-clubhouse-2021-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Mark Zuckerberg made an appearance<\/a> on the audio-based app last week, to talk about augmented reality and virtual reality.<\/p>\n<p><em>[Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/shift\/2021\/02\/08\/polestar-batteries-blockchain\/\">How Polestar is using blockchain to increase transparency<\/a>]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A Facebook spokesperson told NYT, \u201c<span>We\u2019ve been connecting people through audio and video technologies for many years and are always exploring new ways to improve that experience for people.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The social networking giant is not averse to cloning products. In past, it has copied <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/opinion\/2016\/08\/03\/everyone-says-instagram-stories-copied-snapchat-but-its-got-a-killer-feature\/\">Snapchat\u2019s Stories<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/apps\/2019\/11\/12\/instagram-tries-to-mimic-tiktok-with-its-new-reels-feature-in-brazil\/\">TikTok-like short videos<\/a>&nbsp;to Instagram. And because of its scale, a Clubhouse-clone might find a lot of takers in the Facebook app universe.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook is not the only one dipping its toes into live audio chat water. Twitter is already experimenting with its <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TwitterSpaces\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">product called Spaces<\/a>, giving limited user access for the first phase.<\/p>\n<p>After a wave of short video products, people are looking to try out something new in the social media world, and live audio might be the next big thing. Users are spending <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/05\/20\/clubhouse-app-is-where-mc-hammer-and-jared-leto-chat-with-vcs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">many hours per week on Clubhouse<\/a> listening to various talks and joining different clubs to talk about their interests.
