But some of the&nbsp;toilet humor and \u201cedgy\u201d hot takes you tweeted in the past might not suit your new image as a<span>&nbsp;<\/span>wise-cracking sage.<\/p>\n<p>If some malicious cyber-stalker digs them up, you could end up publicly-shamed, dumped, or even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/heat-vision\/james-gunn-exits-guardians-galaxy-vol-3-1128786\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">unemployed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, Twitter doesn\u2019t provide a way to bulk-delete tweets (assholes). Instead, <a href=\"https:\/\/help.twitter.com\/en\/using-twitter\/delete-tweets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">the site suggests<\/a> you manually remove the offending tweets, one-by-one.<\/p>\n<p>But that can be a grueling task,&nbsp;littered with humiliating reminders of the past.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><i>[Read:&nbsp;<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/plugged\/2020\/11\/27\/build-pet-friendly-gadget-experts-animal-owners-design\/\"><span class=\"s2\"><i>How do you build a pet-friendly gadget? Read on to find out how.<\/p>\n<h2>Automated options<\/h2>\n<p>A&nbsp;popular free tool is TweetDelete, which I\u2019ve been using for a while now.&nbsp;It\u2019s very simple to set up:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/tweetdelete.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">TweetDelete<\/a> website.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cLogin with Twitter\u201d and enter&nbsp;your Twitter username and password.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cAuthorize app\u201d (if you\u2019re happy to agree to the permissions).<\/li>\n<li>Pick the ages of tweets you want to delete and how often you want to remove them. This&nbsp;<\/span>allows you to delete your full history after uploading your Twitter data file.<\/p>\n<p>It also deletes all the likes you\u2019ve accumulated for your deleted tweets. This can be really annoying when your posts are as hilarious and insightful as mine.<\/p>\n<p>That shortcoming is what drew my attention to <a href=\"https:\/\/semiphemeral.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Semiphemeral<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/apps\/2020\/09\/11\/this-free-tool-automatically-deletes-your-old-tweets-retweets-and-likes\/\">This free tool automatically deletes your old tweets, retweets, and likes<\/a>]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Semiphemeral is another free app that automatically deletes your tweets. But this one gives you more control over which ones you can keep.<\/p>\n<p>You can customize the process in an impressive range of ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep tweets with more than a set number of retweets or likes.<\/li>\n<li>Keep tweets that are&nbsp;part of the same thread&nbsp;as a tweet that meets those RT and like thresholds.<\/li>\n<li>Search through all of your tweets and&nbsp;pick which ones to exclude&nbsp;from automatic deletion, so that Semiphemeral will never delete them.<\/li>\n<li>Unretweet&nbsp;tweets after a number of days.<\/li>\n<li>Unlike&nbsp;tweets after a number of days.<\/li>\n<li>Automatically delete your old&nbsp;direct messages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here\u2019s how to set it up:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Follow&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/semiphemeral\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">@semiphemeral<\/a> on Twitter. But the freebies do a good job of automatically covering the shameful tracks of your Twitter past.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, your tweets could have already been archived or screengrabbed by your nemesis.
