Last year, CNBC reported that the company had hired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/12\/09\/trading-app-robinhood-hires-goldman-sachs-to-lead-its-ipo-sources-say-.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Goldman Sachs to lead its efforts of going public<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In January, when <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/hardfork\/2021\/01\/29\/out-of-the-loop-about-gamestop-heres-a-handy-reading-list\/\">the GameStop stock saga was at its peak<\/a>, Robinhood faced a major backlash from traders as it had to stop trading for a while due to the volatile market. Shortly after it resumed trading, it raised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/robinhood-raises-1-billion-to-meet-surging-cash-demands-11611928504\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">$1 billion capital as a security deposit<\/a>&nbsp;for the clearinghouse. In February, Robinhood raised another $2.4 billion from investors to fulfill the demand of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-robinhood-funding\/robinhood-raises-another-2-4-billion-in-funds-from-investors-idUSKBN2A133R\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">a $3 billion trading collateral<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The company drew a lot of criticism during this period and it is now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/02\/26\/business\/robinhood-gamestop.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">facing more than 50 lawsuits<\/a> for its action during the GameStop&nbsp;<span>furore<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Fintech companies are attracting a lot of investor interest lately because of the rise in digital trading during the coronavirus pandemic.
