Please, don\u2019t panic. You can riot, sure, but&nbsp;<em>no panicking.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This decision was announced <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Microsoft\/status\/1387421368581455874\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">on Microsoft\u2019s blog<\/a>. In the piece, the company explains that it has commissioned five different fonts that could potentially replace the current default, Calibri.<\/p>\n<p>The piece itself provides a balanced view of all these different options, going into an admirable amount of depth about why they may be suitable to become Microsoft Word\u2019s next default font.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately though, we didn\u2019t see this news on the blog. Instead, we saw it on that bastion of rational discussion, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Microsoft\/status\/1387421368581455874\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a>. Have a look:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"5.3770491803279\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We need to talk. What should our next default font be? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/fV9thfdAr4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/fV9thfdAr4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Microsoft (@Microsoft) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Microsoft\/status\/1387421368581455874?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">April 28, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Is a social network famous for being one of the most toxic environments on the internet the best place to engage in dialogue about a default font? Yes. Definitely. Why bother even asking that?<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, we decided to ask&nbsp;TNW\u2019s VP of Design,&nbsp;Alexander Griffioen, to wade in with his opinions.<\/p>\n<p>But in order to keep the spirit of Microsoft\u2019s social media post alive, we only showed him the image below and asked him to provide only&nbsp;Tweet-length comments. We have a winner for Microsoft Word\u2019s next default!&nbsp;Well, sort of. He said he actually prefers Calibri over Seaford. That must hurt, Microsoft.<\/p>\n<p>What have we learned? All complex and nuanced discussions should now take place solely over Twitter and similar networks.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and SEAFORD FOREVER!
