{"id":5571,"date":"2021-06-01T17:47:22","date_gmt":"2021-06-01T17:47:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/TheNextWeb=1355414"},"modified":"2021-06-01T17:47:22","modified_gmt":"2021-06-01T17:47:22","slug":"this-ai-robot-mimics-human-expressions-to-build-trust-with-users","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.londonchiropracter.com\/?p=5571","title":{"rendered":"This AI robot mimics human expressions to build trust with users"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Scientists at Columbia University have developed a robot that mimics the facial expressions of&nbsp;humans to gain their trust.<\/p>\n<p>Named Eva, the droid uses deep learning to analyze human facial gestures captured by a camera.&nbsp;Cables and motors then pull on different points of the robot\u2019s soft skin to mimic the expressions of nearby people in real-time.<\/p>\n<p>The effect is pretty creepy, but the&nbsp;researchers&nbsp;say that giving&nbsp;androids this ability can facilitate&nbsp;more natural and engaging human-robot interactions.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/L5ZJ8zKJXlk?start=1&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen>[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p id=\"p0040\">Eva produces different expressions by utilizing one or more of six basic emotions:<span>&nbsp;anger, disgust, fear, joy, sadness, and surprise.
