The top rising search term at present is \u201celectoral fraud,\u201d with a 366% increase in interest at the time of writing, followed&nbsp;by \u201cpostal voting,\u201d \u201copinion poll,\u201d \u201cfact check,\u201d \u201cvoting,\u201d and \u201celection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>COVID-19 has also inevitably had a major impact on the public\u2019s political focuses, highlighted by increases in search terms including \u201cvaccine,\u201d \u201csick leave,\u201d and \u201cunemployment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>[Read:&nbsp;<span dir=\"auto\"><a class=\"c-link c-message_attachment__title_link\" href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/politics\/2020\/10\/16\/what-audience-intelligence-data-tells-us-about-the-2020-us-presidential-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-qa=\"message_attachment_title_link\">What audience intelligence data tells us about the 2020 US presidential election<\/a>]<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In contrast, classic political issues such as foreign policy and education appear to have lost importance for many Americans, while topic peaks in 2020 have been unusually short-lived.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was basically a new hugely spiking topic every month,\u201d wrote project lead Moritz Stefaner.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10.977777777778\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">But, it&#8217;s also been really interesting to also &#8220;time-travel&#8221; back to 2012 when national debt, student loans, legality of cannabis or same-sex marriage were among the most searched topics. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MgghNXyjRK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/MgghNXyjRK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Moritz Stefaner (@moritz_stefaner) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/moritz_stefaner\/status\/1321450585195950080?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">October 28, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The&nbsp;collaboration between Google News initiative and data visualization firm explores 69 topics covering the&nbsp;most searched political concepts in the US, subjects from Pew Research Center\u2019s election surveys, and a few manual additions on emerging 2020 issues.<\/p>\n<p>The search data is depicted on charts showing how interest has progressed through recent election cycles.
