{"id":756,"date":"2020-10-28T22:00:27","date_gmt":"2020-10-28T22:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/?p=1325742"},"modified":"2020-10-28T22:00:27","modified_gmt":"2020-10-28T22:00:27","slug":"harley-davidson-reveals-its-new-ebike-brand-serial-1-cycle-company","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.londonchiropracter.com\/?p=756","title":{"rendered":"Harley-Davidson reveals its new ebike brand: Serial 1 Cycle Company"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Harley-Davidson of motorcycle fame this week&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/serial-1-powered-by-harley-davidson-enters-the-ebicycle-market-301160096.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> it has created a new brand dedicated to electric bikes: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.serial1.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Serial 1 Cycle Company<\/a>. In announcing the company, it also teased a stylish new ebike that may or may not make it into production:<\/p>\n<p>It might not be to everyone\u2019s taste, but you\u2019ve got to admit that looks pretty unique. Unfortunately, it\u2019s not clear whether the final bike will end up looking like this; according to <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2020\/10\/27\/harley-davidson-spins-off-new-electric-bicycle-company-serial-1-cycle-company\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Electrek<\/a>, the model above is its first prototype, which Harley Davidson says is \u201c<span>a styling exercise, not necessarily intended for mass production.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The bike is inspired by Harley-Davidson\u2018s first motorcycle, Serial Number One, which wasn\u2019t all that different-looking from a bicycle with a motor instead of pedals:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dNShB6Z-LNY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen>[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Even if the aesthetics end up looking a bit different \u2014 I can imagine those white tires are going to end up real dirty, real fast \u2014 it could point to some features we might expect on a production model. For example, the prototype features what appears to be a custom mid-drive motor with a Gates carbon belt. That, expectedly, places it towards the premium side of the ebike spectrum; mid-drive motors usually provide a more natural ride feel than the hub motos on affordable models, and the belt drive is known to be much more durable than your typical chain.<\/p>\n<p>We can also see hydraulic disc brakes with large rotors, a fancy Brooks Saddle with springy suspension, and an overall relaxed geometry. The tires look a whole lot like the dependable Schwalbe Big Bens or Super Moto-X, which provide suspension by supporting ample air volume (though as far as I can tell, those models aren\u2019t usually available in white).&nbsp; The battery, headlight, and taillights are all integrated into the frame.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026And that\u2019s about it. No details about speed, battery size, range, power, or anything much beyond pretty pictures, let alone a price. According to Electrek,&nbsp;<del>Harley Davidson<\/del> Serial 1 Cycle Company is expected to officially release its models in March of 2021, but a countdown on the company\u2019s site suggests it plans to reveal more details <a href=\"https:\/\/www.serial1.com\/coming-soon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">on November 16<\/a>.
