{"id":8160,"date":"2021-10-04T16:07:29","date_gmt":"2021-10-04T16:07:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/TheNextWeb=1368833"},"modified":"2021-10-04T16:07:29","modified_gmt":"2021-10-04T16:07:29","slug":"watch-world-first-drone-footage-from-inside-a-raging-hurricane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.londonchiropracter.com\/?p=8160","title":{"rendered":"Watch: World-first drone footage from inside a raging hurricane"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The menacing interior of a massive hurricane has been filmed by an ocean drone for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Footage of the category 4<span> Hurricane Sam rampaging across the Atlantic Ocean was recorded by a camera onboard the uncrewed surface vehicle (USV).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The vehicle, called Saildrone Explorer SD 1045, was directed into the tropical cyclone to record conditions at the water\u2019s surface.<\/p>\n<p>The strangely soothing footage belies the ferocity of the storm. The drone braved winds of over 120 mph and waves of 50 feet to capture data about Sam.<\/p>\n<p>You can watch the wild weather it witnessed by clicking on the image atop this article. We know that the exchange of heat between the ocean and the atmosphere is one of the key physical processes providing energy to a storm, but to improve understanding, we need to collect in situ observations during a storm. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>That\u2019s not an easy job for your average human sailor, but it\u2019s a task that\u2019s well-suited to drones. It\u2019s certainly a more laudable use case than <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eff.org\/issues\/surveillance-drones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">surveilling citizens<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/2190096-drones-are-causing-airport-chaos-why-cant-we-stop-them\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">grounding flights<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/travel\/2017\/jul\/24\/flying-drones-in-the-uk-wild-places\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">ruining the wilderness<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"utility-section press-release\">\n<div class=\"_66-percent-column\" data-ix=\"move-up-on-load-3\">\n<div class=\"rich-text-block press-release w-richtext\">\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><em>Greetings Humanoids!
