In a perfectly aligned joke, rumors emerged about Facebook renaming itself<\/a>,<\/span> Donald Trump has launched a new social network named Truth<\/a>. That\u2019s a bold choice, given how Trump has been accused of making more than his fair share of<\/a>misleading statements<\/a> over the years.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s team said the new social network will be a rival \u201cto the liberal media consortium and fight back against \u2018Big Tech\u2019 companies of Silicon Valley.\u201d Like we haven\u2019t heard that one before. Okay, well, maybe not from a former US president.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ex-US<\/span> President has established a new entity for this venture called Trump Media & Technology Group. The company is already inviting users to join the waitlist on its website<\/a> while placing its app for pre-order on the App Store. <\/span><\/p>\n

The app description<\/a> reads that it\u2019s a social network that encourages \u201copen, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology.\u201d Good luck with that: as other social media giants have shown over the years, it\u2019s pretty hard to moderate user-generated content reliably and keep things civil.<\/span><\/p>\n
