So say hello to SharePlay<\/span>. The feature was announced as a part of <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/ios-15-all-features-notification-focus-facetime-analysis\">iOS 15 back in June<\/a> at the company\u2019s WWDC developer conference, but its roll out was delayed.<\/p>\n<p><span>SharePlay is upping the ante compared with other apps that allow remote viewing<\/span>. Here\u2019s a short list of what you can do with this new feature:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Listen to tracks on Apple Music together with time-synced lyrics. You can read more about it <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/HT212862\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Work out with your friends on Apple Fitness+. Here\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/HT212839\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">the guide<\/a> on how to do that.<\/li>\n<li>Watch shows and movies on Apple TV+ together. You can also do this on supported apps such as ESPN+, Disney+, Hulu, and TikTok support is coming soon.<\/li>\n<li>Play games with friends on a Facetime call. Here are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2021\/10\/25\/ios-15-1-shareplay-third-party-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">some titles<\/a> you can start with.<\/li>\n<li>There\u2019s a screen-sharing feature that could be used to browse the web, read an article, or look at your shopping list together.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You\u2019ll have control to play, pause, rewind, and fast forward tracks or videos while using SharePlay. Plus, you can cast a video through AirPlay on your Apple TV, while you continue your Facetime call on your phone.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s more, the feature automatically lowers the volume of the song or the video when you or one of your friends are speaking.<\/p>\n<p>SharePlay is supported all across Apple platforms: iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS. <span>Unfortunately, the latest macOS (that\u2019s Monterey by the way) doesn\u2019t support it yet, so you\u2019ll have to wait for it.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"c-message_kit__gutter\" readability=\"12.94347826087\">\n<div class=\"c-message_kit__gutter__right\" role=\"presentation\" data-qa=\"message_content\">\n<div class=\"c-message_kit__blocks c-message_kit__blocks--rich_text\">\n<div class=\"c-message__message_blocks c-message__message_blocks--rich_text\">\n<div class=\"p-block_kit_renderer\" data-qa=\"block-kit-renderer\" readability=\"13\">\n<div class=\"p-block_kit_renderer__block_wrapper p-block_kit_renderer__block_wrapper--first\" readability=\"21\">\n<p>It\u2019s a little unusual to see such a big feature in a small update, but I\u2019m not complaining. Although the peak time of remotely watching content with friends has probably passed, it\u2019s a damn useful feature to be baked into iOS.<\/p>\n<p>There is a big downside though: this is only limited to Apple devices.<\/p>\n<p>SharePlay would be perfect if it would work on Android or Windows devices, but, honestly, I\u2019d be shocked if Apple <i data-stringify-type=\"italic\">ever <\/i>released it on those platforms. Which is a crying shame.<\/p>\n<p><h2 class=\"p-rich_text_block\" dir=\"auto\">What else is there in iOS 15.1?<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The new iOS 15.1 update also has other improvements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ProRes video support for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max<\/li>\n<li>Mandarin translation in the Translate app.<\/li>\n<li>New HomeKit triggers based on humidity, air quality, and light level sensor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can read all the changes <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/gadgets\/2021\/10\/ios-15-1-brings-delayed-shareplay-feature-to-iphones-and-ipads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can update your iOS device right now by going to <em>Settings &gt; General &gt; Software Update<\/em>, and downloading the iOS 15.1 update.
