Fan art has flourished in the social media age, but not everyone is blessed with the skills to turn their ideas into spectacular \u2014 and disturbing \u2014 visual creations.<\/p>\n

The worst offenders hang in galleries of horrors across Reddit and Twitter. Visit them if you dare, but be warned: these<\/a> cursed<\/a>images<\/a> will be forever imprinted on your brain.<\/p>\n

Fearful of joining these walls of shame, fan artists are turning to a new AI app<\/a> for help. Known as Wombo Dream<\/a>, the software converts text into computer-generated paintings.<\/p>\n

The app was built by the company behind <\/span>Wombo AI, the popular deepfake<\/a> singing tool. To use it, all you need to do is type a prompt, like \u201cMortal Kombat\u2019s Sub-Zero,\u201d and pick an art style that you like. The AI<\/a> will then bring your idea to life.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Wombo gang hasn\u2019t said much about how the app works, but experts suspect it uses the VQGAN+CLIP<\/a> architecture. <\/span>We\u2019ve asked the team for further details and will update this piece if we hear back.<\/p>\n

Whatever powers the system, one thing remains apparent: it can produce some truly arresting images. Within days of its launch, fan artists had shared numerous<\/span> striking characters from movies<\/a>, bands<\/a>, video games<\/a>, and comic books<\/a>.<\/p>\n
