How to use Facebook’s new Feeds tab to customize the posts you see

Posted on July 22, 2022 by admin

Scrolling down Facebook’s home page is sometimes messy — you can’t find the post you saw before and you’re bombarded with often unrelated content. But, finally, things are changing.

In a Facebook post, Mark Zuckerberg announced that the platform is introducing a feature that lets users customize and control the content they see.

With the new Feeds tab, you can see the most recent posts from your selected categories: Friends, Pages, or Groups. The All category will show you posts from all feeds. Thankfully, there’s no Suggested For You content on Feeds, but ads remain.

Greetings, tech nerd!

Are you into gadgets? And apps? And other cool tech stuff? Then this weekly newsletter is for you.

Users will find Feeds in their shortcut bar. On iOS, it’s placed at the bottom of the app, and on Android, at the top. Here’s how it looks:

As you can see from the image above, you can also create a Favorites list where you can select up to 30 Friends and Pages — but you can’t add any Groups.

Friends and Pages won’t be notified if you add or remove them, and you can manage your list at any time.

Here’s how to enable it:

  • Select Favorites on your Feeds tab and click on Manage Favorites.
  • Click the Add button to start making your list. You’ll see a black star under the selected Friends or Pages.
  • To remove Friends and Pages from your Favorites, click on the three dots on the right of their names. Then select Remove From Favorites.

If this doesn’t work, you can find alternative steps on Facebook’s page.

With the introduction of Feeds, the primary tab you see when you open the app is now called Home.

Given that it’s under the blue home icon, it’s not a creative choice, but there’s some significance in this move nevertheless.

According to the company, Home is becoming of a “discovery engine” to find new content and creators through recommendations, although you’ll still be able to see posts from you Friends, Pages, and Groups.

It seems that Facebook is trying to broaden its scope and move closer to TikTok, but I’m not complaining about getting the chance to select the posts I’m interested in on Feeds.

The new feature has already been available for some users as of Thursday, and the global rollout is expected within the next week.
